New BMW 7 Series and i7 Launched in India at Up to ₹2.65 Crore: Price and Key Features

BMW has launched the updated 7 Series and i7 electric sedan models in the Indian market. The models are priced from ₹1.95 crore. The latest versions represent a mid-cycle update for the G70-generation models, which were first introduced around four years ago.

Both the internal combustion engine and electric versions are now assembled locally in India. With this, India becomes the second country outside Germany to assemble BMW`s electric model.

BMW i7: Key Features

The major addition to the i7 lineup in India is the new M70 xDrive variant. It features a dual-motor setup that produces 680 hp and 1,100 Nm of torque. The model offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 686 km.

The i7 M70 xDrive can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. The i7 eDrive50, meanwhile, comes with an upgraded 112.5 kWh battery pack and offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 728 km.

The eDrive50 will be assembled locally in India, while the M70 will be offered as a completely built unit (CBU). The M70 is priced at ₹2.65 crore.

BMW 740: Powerful Petrol Engine

The BMW 7 Series continues with the 740 variant. It is powered by a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine that produces 400 hp and 540 Nm of torque.

The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. The 740 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

8K Theatre Screen and Advanced Features

BMW has upgraded the display and entertainment features in both the i7 and 7 Series. The models feature a 14.6-inch passenger display and a panoramic vision head-up display extending from A-pillar to A-pillar.

The rear passengers also get a large 31.3-inch 8K Theatre Screen, paired with a Bowers & Wilkins sound system.

BMW 7 Series and i7 Rivals

In the Indian market, the BMW 7 Series and i7 compete with luxury sedans such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Mercedes-Benz EQS.

The luxury models also face competition from premium SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz GLS, upcoming Audi Q9, BMW X7, Volvo XC90 and Volvo EX90.
