DICV Announces ₹4,000 Crore Investment in Tamil Nadu

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), the maker of BharatBenz trucks and buses, has announced an additional investment of approximately ₹4,000 crore in Tamil Nadu to strengthen BharatBenz and expand its commercial vehicle ecosystem in India.

The proposed investment, announced as part of a non-binding MoU with the Tamil Nadu Government, is expected to take DICV’s cumulative investment in India to more than ₹14,500 crore and create around 400 jobs.

The investment will support BharatBenz’s product development, manufacturing, R&D, infrastructure and future technology readiness. DICV currently operates a 400-acre integrated manufacturing and R&D facility at Oragadam near Chennai, supported by more than 4,000 employees and 400+ local suppliers.

Since its launch in 2012, BharatBenz has placed more than 2.2 lakh trucks and buses on Indian roads and has a nationwide network of over 420 dealer and service touchpoints.
