Tamil Nadu Day Celebrations to Be Held at Chennai Museum Theatre on November 1

The Tamil Nadu government will celebrate Tamil Nadu Day on November 1 at the Chennai Museum Theatre, with a series of events recognising Tamil scholars, students and the state`s cultural heritage.

According to an official government announcement, the celebration will begin at 10 AM under the auspices of the Tamil Development Department, following the Chief Minister`s announcement.

School Education, Tamil Development, Information and Publicity Minister Rajmohan will present several awards and honours during the event.

Awards and Honours for Tamil Scholars and Students

The minister will distribute the following awards and recognitions:

- Copyright remuneration for making the works of five Tamil scholars public property.

- Cash prizes and certificates of appreciation to 179 students who completed the Thirukkural recitation programme.

- Tamil Semmal Awards to 76 Tamil scholars in recognition of their contributions.

The programme aims to honour literary contributions and encourage students to engage with Tamil literature and heritage.

Cultural Programmes Across Chennai

As part of the Tamil Nadu Day celebrations, the Department of Art and Culture will organise cultural performances by folk artists in Greater Chennai Corporation parks on the evening of November 1.

The performances will showcase Tamil Nadu`s traditional arts and cultural heritage.

Essay and Speech Competitions for College Students

The government will also organise state-level and district-level essay and speech competitions for college students across Tamil Nadu.

Students securing the first three positions in these competitions will receive cash prizes.

The celebrations are intended to promote Tamil language, literature and culture while recognising the achievements of scholars and encouraging young people to participate in cultural and literary activities.
