IIT Madras and CAMS Renew FinTech Partnership to Boost Innovation and Startup Development

IIT Madras and Computer Age Management Services (CAMS) have renewed their partnership to strengthen fintech innovation, research, startup development and professional education through the CAMS IIT Madras FinTech Innovation Lab (CIFIL).

A new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the IIT Madras campus, marking the next phase of the collaboration that began in 2022 under CAMS` Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

CIFIL to Focus on Emerging FinTech Technologies

Under the renewed partnership, CIFIL will focus on several emerging areas in financial technology, including:

- Artificial Intelligence (AI) in financial services
- Digital payments
- Blockchain and tokenisation
- Cybersecurity
- Regulatory technology (RegTech)
- WealthTech
- InsurTech
- Digital lending
- Data analytics
- Financial inclusion

The lab will also expand its research activities, develop intellectual property (IP), facilitate technology transfer and support the commercialisation of research-driven fintech solutions.

Support for FinTech Startups

The partnership will strengthen support for fintech startups through mentoring, faculty expertise, industry networks, research collaborations and innovation challenges.

CAMS Managing Director Anuj Kumar said CIFIL was established to create an intersection between industry experience and academic exploration. He added that the renewed partnership would help create an environment where innovative ideas could be transformed into practical solutions for the financial services ecosystem.

IIT Madras to Strengthen FinTech Education

IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti said the collaboration could accelerate the development of cutting-edge fintech solutions for India`s financial ecosystem.

Students are expected to benefit from research projects, internships, hackathons, expert interactions and startup mentoring as part of the expanded collaboration.

CIFIL will also offer certificate programmes in FinTech and personal financial planning, providing professional education opportunities for students and industry professionals.

CIFIL Aims to Become Global FinTech Innovation Centre

M. Thenmozhi, Head of CIFIL, said the lab aims to emerge as a global centre for fintech innovation and develop ventures that address unresolved challenges in banking, financial markets and financial services.

The renewed IIT Madras-CAMS partnership is expected to further strengthen India`s fintech ecosystem by connecting academic research, industry expertise, entrepreneurship and technology-driven financial solutions.
