Panguni Uthiram Festival Begins at Vadapalani Murugan Temple with Laksharchanai

The grand Panguni Uthiram festival has commenced at the famous Vadapalani Murugan Temple in Chennai with a special Laksharchanai ritual, drawing thousands of devotees.

Recognised as one of the most important spiritual landmarks in Chennai, the temple holds great significance for devotees who are unable to visit Palani. Many believe that worshipping here offers the same blessings of Lord Murugan.

Laksharchanai and Devotee Participation

The festival began with Laksharchanai, which will continue until March 31.

Timings:
- Morning: 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM
- Evening: 4:30 PM – 8:30 PM
- Participation fee: ₹250

- Special prasadam is வழங்கப்படும் to devotees taking part in the ritual

Thousands of devotees attended the opening ceremony and received blessings.

Special Rituals and Festival Highlights

On April 1 (Panguni Uthiram):

- Theerthavari and Yagasalai poojas will be performed
- Festival concludes with Kalasabhishekam
- Evening procession (Thiruveedhi Ula) of Lord Murugan in special decoration at 7 PM

Float Festival (Theppam) Details

From April 2 to April 4, a three-day float festival will be held:

- The deity will be taken around the temple tank on a beautifully decorated float

- Events begin daily at 7 PM

- Accompanied by Vedic chanting and Nadaswaram music concerts
