CMRL Work Leaves Valasaravakkam Bus Stops Without Shelter, Commuters Affected

Ongoing work by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) along Arcot Road has left commuters in Valasaravakkam and Alwarthirunagar struggling due to the removal of permanent bus shelters.
Temporary bus stops set up in place of old shelters lack basic facilities like seating and proper roofing. As a result, passengers are forced to wait under the sun and near busy traffic, raising safety concerns.
With heavy commuter movement on Arcot Road, the issue has become more noticeable, especially during peak hours. Children, women, and senior citizens are the most affected.
Authorities have assured that proper bus shelters will be rebuilt after the completion of metro construction and road widening work.
