Arakkonam Yard Modernisation Work to Affect Services of 57 Electric Trains

Chennai: Southern Railway has announced major changes to the operation of 57 electric train services due to ongoing yard modernisation work at Arakkonam. The changes, including cancellations and partial cancellations, will be in effect on various dates between June 13 and June 26.

As part of the revised schedule, five suburban train services between Arakkonam, Tiruttani, and Chennai Central will be fully cancelled during the affected period. Several MEMU services, including trains operating between Chennai Central and Tiruchanur, as well as Arakkonam and Vellore, will also remain cancelled on selected dates.

In addition, a large number of electric train services running between Chennai Beach, Chennai Central, Arakkonam, and Tiruttani will be partially cancelled. Many trains that normally operate up to Arakkonam will terminate at Tiruvallangadu instead. Likewise, several services originating from Arakkonam will start their journey from Tiruvallangadu during the period of the maintenance work.

Southern Railway stated that these temporary changes are necessary to facilitate infrastructure improvements at the Arakkonam yard. Passengers are advised to check the latest train schedules and station announcements before planning their journey to avoid inconvenience.
