Egg Price Rises by 10 Paise to ₹5.50 in Namakkal Zone

The egg price in the Namakkal zone has been increased by 10 paise to ₹5.50 per egg.

The Namakkal zone advisory meeting of the National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC) was held on Thursday. During the meeting, poultry farmers were consulted about making changes to the price of eggs.

Farmers said that egg consumption among the public is expected to decline once the Purattasi month begins. Therefore, they suggested increasing the price until then. They also pointed out that egg prices have been revised continuously in other zones and requested a similar revision in the Namakkal zone.

Following this, the NECC announced a 10-paise increase in the farm procurement price of eggs, taking it to ₹5.50 per egg. The egg price has increased by 30 paise over the past five days.

At the NECC meeting held in Palladam, the price of broiler chicken was reduced by ₹10 to ₹85 per kg. The price of layer chicken was also reduced by ₹2 to ₹118.
