Tamil Nadu Northeast Monsoon 2026: CM Vijay to Review Flood Preparedness

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay is set to hold a review meeting at the Secretariat on Monday to assess the state’s Northeast Monsoon 2026 preparedness. The meeting will focus on district-wise preventive measures, flood-prone areas and arrangements to manage heavy rainfall and possible flooding.

District Collectors and senior officials, particularly from the Delta districts, are expected to participate through video conference. Officials will discuss flood prevention works, drainage arrangements, vulnerable locations and emergency response measures.

The meeting comes as Tamil Nadu prepares for the Northeast Monsoon, which is an important source of the state’s annual rainfall. District administrations have been instructed to strengthen preparedness and complete essential preventive works before the monsoon intensifies.

The Chief Minister is also expected to review the preparedness of various government departments and identify locations requiring immediate attention. Measures to ensure timely intervention during heavy rain and flooding are likely to form a key part of the discussions.
