TNSTC to Operate 4,095 Special Buses for Post-Vinayagar Chaturthi Rush

The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations (TNSTC) will operate 4,095 special buses to manage the expected rush of passengers returning to Chennai after the Vinayagar Chaturthi holidays and long weekend on September 14 and 15.

Around 2.31 lakh passengers travelled from Chennai to various parts of Tamil Nadu on September 11 and 12. With the holidays ending, officials expect a heavy influx of passengers into the city.

Special Buses to Chennai

On September 14, 2,240 additional special buses will operate along with regular services. Another 1,325 special buses are planned for September 15, taking the total to 3,565 special buses for Kilambakkam over the two days.

The services will operate from major towns including Trichy, Madurai, Dindigul, Salem, Krishnagiri, Hosur, Vellore, Kumbakonam, Tiruvannamalai and Villupuram.

Services to Major Chennai Bus Terminals

Of the total 4,095 special buses, 160 buses will operate towards Madhavaram, while 370 buses will serve Koyambedu via the East Coast Road.

The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) has also arranged additional services from Kilambakkam to Chennai and suburban areas.

Around 400 additional trips using 50 special buses will operate from Kilambakkam on September 14 evening and night, followed by another 150 additional trips during the early hours of September 15.

Additional city bus services will also be operated from Chennai Central, Egmore and Tambaram railway stations to help passengers reach different parts of Chennai and its suburbs.
