Tamil Nadu to Build 2,500 Houses for Sanitation Workers Under ‘Agam’ Scheme

The Tamil Nadu government has announced the ‘Agam’ housing scheme to provide permanent homes for sanitation workers who do not have adequate housing.

Under the scheme, 2,500 concrete houses will be constructed across Tamil Nadu, aiming to provide sanitation workers and their families with safer and more dignified living conditions.

Social Justice Minister Vanni Arasu announced the scheme in the Assembly as part of 67 major initiatives under the Social Justice Department.

The government also announced plans to set up a Tribal Cultural Centre at Nandanam in Chennai. The centre will promote and preserve the traditions, culture and art forms of Tamil Nadu’s tribal communities.
