Tamil Nadu Heatwave: 17 Places Cross 100°F as Temperatures Soar

Summer heat continues to intensify across Tamil Nadu, with temperatures crossing 100 degrees Fahrenheit in 17 locations across the state. The soaring heat has caused severe discomfort for residents as temperatures rise day by day.

According to weather reports, Vellore recorded the highest temperature in Tamil Nadu at 109°F. Several other places including Tiruttani, Chennai (Meenambakkam and Nungambakkam), Erode, Tiruchirappalli, and Madurai also witnessed extremely high temperatures.

The Regional Meteorological Centre has warned that temperatures in coastal Tamil Nadu, Pudukkottai, and Karaikal regions could rise by another 2 to 4 degrees Celsius until May 25. Heatwave conditions are also likely to prevail in isolated parts of Chennai today.

Meanwhile, the scorching summer heat is affecting several parts of India. Severe heatwave conditions have been reported in New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, causing major inconvenience to the public.

Among the hottest locations in the country, Banda in Uttar Pradesh recorded a blistering 118°F, while Khammam registered 115°F. Delhi witnessed temperatures touching 113°F, with the India Meteorological Department predicting continued heatwave conditions for the next seven days.

Authorities have advised people to avoid direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
