Heavy Traffic on GST Road as People Leave Chennai for Hometowns

Heavy traffic congestion was reported on the GST Road between Tambaram and Perungalathur as a large number of people left Chennai for their hometowns ahead of the three-day holiday for Gandhi Jayanti and the weekend.

The continuous holiday led to a heavy rush at the Tambaram bus stand and railway station. A large number of people travelling to other districts used buses and trains to reach their hometowns.

At the same time, many people travelled in their own vehicles, resulting in increased traffic on the GST Road from Tambaram to Perungalathur. Vehicles were lined up for a long distance on both sides of the road.

Traffic moved slowly in the Tambaram and Perungalathur areas, causing considerable inconvenience to motorists. With the weather being particularly hot, two-wheeler riders were among those who faced difficulties after being stuck in the traffic for a long time.
