GCC to Verify Urimai Thogai Application of 79-Year-Old’s Wife at Home

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has been directed to conduct an in-person verification regarding the rejection of a woman’s application for the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme.

The Tamil Nadu Information Commission directed GCC officials to visit the elderly couple’s residence, verify their documents and application details, and submit an action-taken report by August 31.

The application was reportedly rejected as the family’s annual income was above the ₹2.5 lakh eligibility limit. The Commission noted that elderly applicants may face difficulties while completing online applications and directed the verification to ensure the decision was based on the correct information and documents.
