Regional Meteorological Centre Chennai Forecasts Light Rain in Western Ghats Districts of Tamil Nadu

The Regional Meteorological Centre Chennai has forecast light rainfall in the Western Ghats districts of Tamil Nadu on Monday and Tuesday (March 2 and 3).

Reason for Rainfall

According to officials, an upper air cyclonic circulation is prevailing over the Kanyakumari Sea and adjoining areas. Additionally, a lower-level atmospheric circulation extends from the Kanyakumari region towards the Lakshadweep area. Due to these weather systems, isolated places in the Western Ghats districts may receive light rainfall on March 2 and 3.

Weather in Other Parts of Tamil Nadu

The rest of Tamil Nadu, including Puducherry and Karaikal, is expected to experience mainly dry weather conditions.

From Wednesday (March 4) to March 7, light rain is likely at isolated places in:

- Southern coastal districts of Tamil Nadu

- Western Ghats districts

- The sky will remain partly cloudy on Monday.

- Light mist is likely during the early morning hours in some areas.

Light mist is expected during early mornings on Monday and Tuesday in:

Rainfall Recorded

In the last 24 hours ending at 8:30 AM Sunday, the highest rainfall in the state was recorded at Kurunthancode in Kanyakumari district, which received 30 mm of rain.
