Chennai Metro Extends Services Till Midnight for T20 World Cup Match at Chepauk
The Chennai Metro Rail Limited has announced extended metro train services until midnight on February 26 in view of the T20 International World Cup Super 8 match between India and Zimbabwe at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk.
To ensure smooth and hassle-free transportation for cricket fans, metro services on both corridors will operate special late-night trips. The last train from Government Estate Metro Station towards Wimco Nagar Depot and Airport (Blue Line) will depart at 12:00 AM.
Passengers traveling on the Green Line after 11:00 PM can interchange only at Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central metro station.
In a special initiative, the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association is sponsoring free metro travel for match ticket holders. Fans with valid digital match tickets can avail one free round trip to and from Government Estate Metro Station on the day of the match by scanning the unique QR code at the automatic fare collection gates.
Commuters are advised to arrive at the station at least 10 minutes before the last train departure and keep their QR codes ready to avoid delays.
This special arrangement aims to manage crowd movement efficiently and provide seamless connectivity for thousands of spectators attending the high-profile T20 World Cup clash in Chennai.
