Srirangam bypoll likely after Jan 5

Byelection to the Srirangam constituency will be held only after January 5, when the final electoral rolls would be released.
The constituency , which was represented by AIADMK supremo and former chief minister J Jayalalithaa, fell vacant on September 27 after she was convicted by a Bangalore special court in a disproportionate assets case.
The vacancy was notified only on November 8 by the Tamil Nadu assembly secretariat after many political parties raised a hue and cry . The by-election is likely to be held by February first week, election commission sources said.
