Heavy Rain Alert in Tamil Nadu Till May 9: IMD Warns for Multiple Districts
The India Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for several districts across Tamil Nadu from May 6 to May 9 due to an atmospheric low-pressure trough extending from Madhya Pradesh to the Gulf of Mannar through Tamil Nadu.
According to the Chennai Meteorological Centre, widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds is expected across multiple districts over the next four days.
Heavy rain with wind speeds up to 50 kmph is likely in districts including The Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Erode, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, Madurai, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli and Kanniyakumari.
The weather department has also forecast rain in Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Thiruvarur, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Thanjavur, Thoothukudi and Pudukkottai.
Residents in rain-prone districts have been advised to remain cautious during thunderstorms and strong winds.
