Tamil Nadu MBBS, BDS Rank List to Be Released Today

Chennai: The rank list for MBBS and BDS courses in Tamil Nadu will be released today by Health Minister Arunraj.

There are 13,999 MBBS and BDS seats in government and private medical colleges across Tamil Nadu. The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DME) is conducting counselling for government and management quota seats in these colleges.

Applications were invited online for admissions to MBBS and BDS courses for the 2026-27 academic year. A total of 72,627 candidates have applied, including 41,723 candidates for government quota seats and 30,904 candidates for management quota seats. In Tamil Nadu, 61,306 candidates qualified in the NEET examination.

The rank list of eligible candidates will be released by Health Minister Arunraj at around 3 pm today at the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DME) office.

Under the All India Quota, 15% of MBBS and BDS seats in government medical and dental colleges across the country are allocated for national-level counselling. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) conducts online counselling for these seats, as well as seats in AIIMS, JIPMER, deemed universities and central universities.

The first round of All India counselling for MBBS and BDS courses began online on August 4 and is currently underway. In Tamil Nadu, the DME conducts counselling for the remaining 85% of MBBS and BDS seats in government medical and dental colleges, along with government and management quota seats in private colleges. The first round of state counselling will begin online on August 13.

Special Quota for Students with Disabilities

Under the state`s reservation policy, special quotas are provided for students with disabilities, sportspersons, children of ex-servicemen and government school students for MBBS and BDS admissions.

For candidates who applied under the disability category, the deadline to upload their disability eligibility certificate online has been extended until 5 pm on August 11. The certificate must be issued by the medical assessment boards functioning at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Thanjavur Government Medical College Hospital, Madurai Government Medical College Hospital and Coimbatore Government Medical College Hospital.
