Chennai continues to experience intense summer heat, with Nungambakkam recording a scorching maximum temperature of 39.1 degrees Celsius on Tuesday - the highest temperature recorded in the city so far this summer.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, the temperature in Nungambakkam was 1.7 degrees Celsius above the normal maximum temperature of 37.4 degrees Celsius.

Despite the extreme heat during the day, moderate evening rain was reported in Nungambakkam and nearby areas including Kodambakkam. Isolated rainfall was also witnessed in parts of Royapettah and Mandaveli.

Across Tamil Nadu, Tiruttani recorded the highest temperature at 40 degrees Celsius, while Ooty remained the coolest with a maximum temperature of 22.4 degrees Celsius.

Weather blogger Pradeep John, popularly known as Tamil Nadu Weatherman, stated that Chennai city storms have continued to bypass the city for the third straight day. He also warned that next week could bring even hotter conditions for Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, and Vellore regions.

The intense summer conditions combined with isolated evening showers have led to humid weather across several parts of Chennai.
