2027 Census India: Self-Enumeration Begins Today; Citizens Can Register Online Until July 31

The Government of India has launched the Self-Enumeration (Self Census) facility for the upcoming 2027 Population Census, allowing citizens to register their household details online from July 17 to July 31.

The online self-enumeration initiative is part of the nationwide 2027 Census, which will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will focus on House Listing and Housing Census, followed by the Population Enumeration phase.

Self-Enumeration Portal

Citizens can complete the self-enumeration process by visiting the official Census portal:

The online registration is simple and can be completed by the head of the family or any eligible family member using a single mobile number.

33 Questions to Complete

During the self-enumeration process, users will be required to answer 33 questions related to their household and family members. Once the details are successfully submitted, a unique Self-Enumeration Number (SEN) will be sent to the registered mobile number.

House-to-House Verification from August 1

After the online registration period ends, government-appointed census officials will conduct door-to-door verification from August 1 to August 30.

Families that have already completed the self-enumeration process only need to provide their Self-Enumeration Number to the census officials. The officers will verify the submitted information and complete the census process without collecting the details again.

Benefits of Self-Enumeration

Citizens who complete the online self-enumeration in advance can save time during the house visit, as officials will only verify the submitted information instead of asking all 33 questions again.

Those who do not register online will be required to answer all the census questions during the home visit.

Is Online Registration Mandatory?

According to Census officials, online self-enumeration is optional and not mandatory. Citizens who choose not to register online can still participate in the census when government enumerators visit their homes.

Officials have urged the public to cooperate with census personnel by providing accurate information during the nationwide enumeration process.
