Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Moderate Rain Likely in Western Ghats Districts for Next Two Days

The Regional Meteorological Centre Chennai has forecast moderate rainfall in the Western Ghats districts of Tamil Nadu for the next two days.

Deep Depression Over Southwest Bay of Bengal

A low-pressure area that formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean has intensified into a deep depression on Sunday morning. The system is currently positioned over the southwest Bay of Bengal and is expected to move west-northwestwards and later recurve northeastwards.

In addition, a lower-level atmospheric circulation persists over South India, influencing weather conditions across the state.

Rainfall Forecast (Feb 23–26)

- Feb 23 & 24: Light to moderate rain likely at isolated places in Western Ghats districts.

- Rest of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal: Generally dry weather expected.

- Feb 25: Light rain possible at isolated places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

- Feb 26: Light to moderate rain likely in South Tamil Nadu; dry weather in North Tamil Nadu.

Nambiyaru Dam (Tirunelveli) – 50 mm

Kazhugumalai (Thoothukudi) – 50 mm

Perunchani Dam (Kanyakumari) – 50 mm

Pechiparai Dam (Kanyakumari) – 40 mm

Chittar & Tirunelveli – 30 mm each
