Trichy - Tambaram Train Service Made Permanent
The Railway Board has officially made the Trichy–Tambaram special train service permanent and assigned it new train numbers 16807/16808. The trains will operate five days a week, except Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and will continue to run with 20 coaches.
The train will depart from Trichy Junction at 5:35 a.m. and reach Tambaram, while the return service will leave Tambaram at 3:30 p.m. and arrive back in Trichy at 10:40 p.m. It will stop at key stations including Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Mayiladuthurai, Chidambaram, Villupuram, Tindivanam, and Chengalpattu.
The service, which was introduced as a special train in October 2024, gained strong public support due to its convenience for daytime travelers from the Delta region. Based on continuous demand and positive response, the Railway Board approved its permanent status.
Passengers and railway associations across the Delta region have welcomed the decision, stating that it provides a reliable and convenient transport option to Chennai and surrounding areas.
