Mettupalayam - Ooty Mountain Train Cancelled Today Due to Heavy Rain
The Mettupalayam–Ooty Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) service has been cancelled today (January 28, 2026) due to adverse weather conditions in the Nilgiris. Following continuous rainfall, several trees were uprooted and fell across the railway track between Kallar and Hillgrove stations, disrupting train operations.
In an official statement, the Salem Railway Division confirmed that the mountain train service has been cancelled for one day to ensure passenger safety and to carry out track clearance works. Railway authorities are actively engaged in removing fallen trees and restoring normal operations.
