Moderate Rain Expected in South Tamil Nadu and Western Ghats Till Feb 1
A lower atmospheric circulation over the southeast Arabian Sea near the Kerala coast is likely to bring moderate rainfall to parts of the Western Ghats districts and southern Tamil Nadu from Tuesday (January 27) to February 1, weather officials said.
In Chennai and suburban areas, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy on Tuesday, with no significant rainfall forecast.
During the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Monday (January 27), Mamallapuram in Chengalpattu district recorded the highest rainfall of 70 mm. Several locations in Chennai, Tiruvallur, and Tiruvarur districts received rainfall ranging up to 40–50 mm.
A fishermen advisory has been issued as strong winds reaching 60 kmph are likely over the south Tamil Nadu coastal areas, Gulf of Mannar, and Kanyakumari sea region on January 27 and 28.
