Chennai Railway Division Records 5.9% Revenue Growth
Divisional Railway Manager Shailendra Singh announced that the Chennai Railway Division has recorded a 5.9 percent increase in revenue this year compared to last year.
Speaking at the Republic Day celebrations organized by the Chennai Railway Division on Monday, after hoisting the national flag, he said that around 12.39 lakh passengers travel daily in the division. Compared to 2024, revenue has risen to ₹3,496 crore. In the freight sector, there has been a 10.7 percent growth, reaching 8.088 million tonnes.
He also stated that 88 percent of passenger trains are being operated on time and that infrastructure facilities have been improved at railway stations for senior citizens, women, and other passengers.
Following the address, he took the parade salute from the Railway Protection Force and other units and presented certificates of appreciation and shields to outstanding employees.
