Narendra Modi has flagged off a new weekly Amrit Bharat Express train under Southern Railway, further strengthening rail connectivity between Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The newly introduced Thiruvananthapuram Central – Tambaram Amrit Bharat Express (Train No. 16121 / 16122) was inaugurated at Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station. The service operates as a weekly train via Tirunelveli and Madurai, covering key regions of southern Tamil Nadu.

Route Highlights
The train passes through major stations including Kuzhithurai, Nagercoil Town, Valliyur, Tirunelveli Junction, Kovilpatti, Sattur, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Trichy, Srirangam, Ariyalur, Vriddhachalam, Villupuram, and Chengalpattu, before reaching Tambaram at 11:45 PM.
This launch follows the recent introduction of another Amrit Bharat train connecting Nagercoil to New Jalpaiguri, reflecting Indian Railways’ continued focus on expanding modern yet affordable train services across the country.
