Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Heavy Rain Likely in Several Districts Today and Tomorrow

The India Meteorological Department has announced that several districts in Tamil Nadu are likely to receive heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds over the next two days due to atmospheric circulation prevailing over the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal regions.

According to the latest weather forecast, districts including Tiruchirappalli, Namakkal, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, Vellore, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Karur, Salem, and Erode may experience heavy rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kmph on May 28, 2026.

For May 29, 2026, heavy rainfall is expected in Theni, Dindigul, Nilgiris, Vellore, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, and Ranipet districts. Other parts of Tamil Nadu, along with Puducherry and Karaikal, may receive light to moderate rain with thunderstorm activity.

The weather department also stated that Chennai and its suburban areas are likely to witness partly cloudy skies with high temperatures ranging between 40°C and 41°C. Increased humidity may lead to uncomfortable weather conditions in the city.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the Tamil Nadu coastal areas, Gulf of Mannar, south Bay of Bengal, and adjoining Arabian Sea regions due to strong winds expected between May 28 and May 29.
