Delay in Storm Water Drain Work at Selaivayal Triggers Traffic Congestion in Chennai
Ongoing storm water drain (SWD) construction work in Selaivayal, Kodungaiyur, has caused heavy traffic congestion and inconvenience for daily commuters in Chennai.
The work is being carried out on Kadumpadi Amman Koil Street, an important road connecting several residential areas and frequently used by motorists travelling towards Manali and nearby localities. Due to the slow progress of construction and road narrowing, vehicles are experiencing long delays, particularly during peak hours.
Local residents and commuters have expressed concern over the traffic chaos and have urged authorities to speed up the storm water drain project to restore smooth traffic flow. The SWD project is part of the city’s efforts to improve rainwater drainage and reduce flooding during monsoon seasons.
Once completed, the project is expected to improve drainage infrastructure and help prevent waterlogging in the Selaivayal and Kodungaiyur areas.
