In view of the Thaipusam festival, Indian Railways has announced the operation of special trains to Tirunelveli (Nellai) and Thoothukudi to accommodate the increased passenger demand.
A special train will operate between Chennai Egmore – Tirunelveli – Tambaram today and the day after tomorrow, providing additional travel options for devotees and passengers heading to southern Tamil Nadu.
Another special train will run between Tambaram – Thoothukudi – Chennai Beach tomorrow and the day after tomorrow to facilitate return travel during the festival period.
Additionally, to ease short-distance travel, an unreserved MEMU special train will be operated between Villupuram – Cuddalore Port – Virudhachalam on February 1, 2, and 3.
Railway authorities have advised passengers to plan their journeys in advance and make use of these special train services during the Thaipusam festival.
