Today (30.09.26) is the last day for property owners in Chennai to pay taxes without a penalty

The deadline to pay the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) property tax for the first half of the 2026 - 2027 financial year without penalty is today, September 30, 2026.

Property owners who fail to pay the tax within the specified deadline will be charged 1% interest per month on the outstanding amount. The Greater Chennai Corporation has therefore advised property owners to make their payments on time.

Property Tax Collection and Penalty

Property tax and professional tax are among the major sources of revenue for the Greater Chennai Corporation, supporting its infrastructure and development works. Property tax is collected twice a year through the Corporation’s Revenue and Finance Department.

As the deadline for paying property tax for the first half of the current financial year ends today, property owners have been requested to pay their dues on time and avoid additional interest charges.

Easy Ways to Pay Property Tax

The Greater Chennai Corporation has provided several options to help residents pay their property tax conveniently.

Direct Payment:
Property tax can be paid directly at all zonal offices, ward councillor offices and through zonal tax collectors.

Digital Payment:
Residents can also pay their property tax from home through the Greater Chennai Corporation’s official website, mobile app, WhatsApp number 9445061913, and QR codes.

Property owners are advised to complete their tax payment today to avoid additional interest charges.
