TVK Wins Dharapuram and Maduranthakam By Elections

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has won the by-elections in the Maduranthakam and Dharapuram Assembly constituencies held on October 6, 2026. The victories have sparked celebrations among party supporters, while political leaders have described the results as a reflection of the government`s first four months in office.

Maduranthakam and Dharapuram By-Election Results

In Maduranthakam, TVK candidate Maragatham Kumaravel defeated DMK candidate Parandhaman by more than 17,000 votes. In Dharapuram, TVK candidate Sathyabhama won by a margin of more than 10,000 votes over DMK candidate Suganya.

With victories in both constituencies, TVK`s strength has increased to 109, according to the report.

Voter Turnout in Both Constituencies

The Maduranthakam constituency had 2,13,788 registered voters, of whom 1,84,413 cast their votes, recording a turnout of 86.26%.

In Dharapuram, 1,79,314 of the 2,23,306 registered voters participated in the election, resulting in a turnout of 80.30%.

Vote counting was conducted in 21 rounds in Maduranthakam and 23 rounds in Dharapuram. A total of 27 candidates contested in Maduranthakam, while 22 candidates were in the fray in Dharapuram.
