CBSE Class 12 Results 2026: Chennai Region Secures 2nd Rank Nationally with 93.84% Pass Percentage
The Chennai region has emerged as one of the top-performing regions in the country in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 board examinations for the 2025-26 academic year, recording an impressive 93.84% pass percentage and securing the second position nationally.
Tamil Nadu also performed exceptionally well with an overall pass percentage of 95.25%.
Chennai Region Ranked 2nd in India
According to the CBSE Class 12 results announced on Wednesday:
Thiruvananthapuram Region – 95.62%
Chennai Region – 93.84%
Bengaluru Region – 93.19%
However, the Chennai region witnessed a decline compared to the previous academic year, when it recorded a pass percentage of 97.39%.
Tamil Nadu Registers 95.25% Pass Percentage
In Tamil Nadu, students from 1,123 schools appeared for the CBSE Class 12 examinations conducted across 357 exam centres.

Supplementary Exams for Chennai Region Students
CBSE officials confirmed that around 4,394 students from the Chennai region will appear for supplementary examinations.
Girls Outperform Boys Again
Across India, girls continued to outperform boys in the CBSE Class 12 examinations.
Nationwide Pass Percentage
Girls pass percentage: 88.86%
Boys pass percentage: 82.13%
Transgender candidates pass percentage: 100%
Over 94,000 Students Score Above 90%
According to CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj:
- 94,028 students scored 90% and above
- 17,113 students scored 95% and above
- Overall national pass percentage crossed 85%
