Chennai: Free STEM Summer Program Announced for School Students at American Center
The U.S. Consulate General Chennai has announced a free summer STEM program for school students at the American Center, aimed at promoting innovation and hands-on learning. The program will run from April 21 to May 30, 2025.
Open to students from Classes 8 to 12, the sessions will be conducted from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Special movie screenings are scheduled every Friday at 10:00 a.m. Due to limited seats, students are required to register in advance via email or WhatsApp.
The program offers an immersive learning experience with access to advanced STEM tools such as coding kits like MicroBits and Snap Circuits, Merge Cube augmented reality, virtual reality headsets, 3D printing technology, and NASA-themed LEGO sets. Participants can also take part in daily quizzes with opportunities to win prizes, including 3D-printed souvenirs and NASA stickers.
Speaking about the initiative, Eric Atkins said the program celebrates American excellence in STEM and aims to inspire creativity, discovery, and meaningful learning among young students. He added that the initiative is designed to nurture future innovators.
The American Center, located within the U.S. Consulate General Chennai, has been a hub for education, cultural exchange, and dialogue for over 70 years. The facility houses a library with more than 15,000 books along with extensive digital and multimedia resources, and remains open to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
