The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has predicted moderate rainfall in parts of Tamil Nadu until June 13, with heavy rain expected in several western and southern districts. The weather conditions are being influenced by an active southwest monsoon and atmospheric circulation over South India.

According to the latest forecast, districts including Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Vellore, Ranipet, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari are likely to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over the coming days.

The weather department has issued a heavy rain alert for the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, Tiruppur, Kanyakumari and the hill regions of Tirunelveli. Strong winds and thunderstorms are also expected in isolated places across the state.

In Chennai, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy, with light to moderate rain likely in some areas. The city recently recorded high temperatures, with Meenambakkam registering 103.46°F, highlighting the contrast between summer heat and the ongoing monsoon activity.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea as strong winds ranging from 40 kmph to 60 kmph are expected along the Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Kumari Sea areas.

The latest Tamil Nadu weather forecast indicates favourable conditions for widespread rainfall, providing relief from the intense summer heat experienced across the state in recent weeks.
