Chennai Schools Kalaithiruvizha 2026: Art and Cultural Festival Begins Today

The Kalaithiruvizha (Art and Cultural Festival) for school students in Chennai begins today, August 21, as part of the Tamil Nadu School Education Department`s efforts to introduce students to the state`s diverse art forms and encourage them to showcase their artistic talents.

The festival aims to integrate art and cultural activities into school education while providing students with opportunities to develop and demonstrate their creative skills.

The Kalaithiruvizha 2026 will be conducted at the school, block, district and state levels for students studying in government and government-aided schools across Tamil Nadu.

Chennai Kalaithiruvizha 2026

In Chennai district, district-level Kalaithiruvizha competitions for students from Classes 1 to 12 will be conducted from August 21 to October 13.

Students who secured first place at the block level are eligible to participate in the district-level competitions.

Around 2,200 students from government schools and approximately 2,000 students from government-aided schools are expected to take part in the Chennai district-level Kalaithiruvizha.
