Southern Railway has announced partial cancellation of Chennai suburban electric train services between Guduvanchery and Chengalpattu due to scheduled maintenance work at the Kattangulathur railway yard on the Chennai Egmore–Villupuram route.
According to railway officials, maintenance works will be carried out on May 20 and 21 from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM, leading to temporary changes in EMU train operations on the busy Chennai suburban railway network.
Trains from Chennai Beach to Chengalpattu Affected
The following EMU trains departing from Chennai Beach railway station towards Chengalpattu will be partially cancelled between Guduvanchery and Chengalpattu:
- 10:56 AM train
- 11:40 AM train
- 12:28 PM train
These trains will operate only up to Guduvanchery during the maintenance period.
Trains from Chengalpattu to Chennai Beach Affected
The following suburban trains departing from Chengalpattu Junction railway station towards Chennai Beach will be partially cancelled between Chengalpattu and Guduvanchery:
- 12:00 PM train
- 1:10 PM train
- 1:45 PM train
In addition, the 2:20 PM EMU train departing from Chengalpattu to Chennai Beach will be partially cancelled between Chengalpattu and Tambaram.
Southern Railway has advised passengers traveling on the Chennai suburban corridor to check updated schedules and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
The Chennai Beach–Chengalpattu suburban railway line is one of the busiest commuter corridors in Tamil Nadu, serving thousands of daily passengers between Chennai and southern suburban regions.
