Chennai Police to Auction 1,936 Unclaimed Vehicles; E-Auction Dates Announced

CHENNAI: The Chennai Police have seized 5,543 unclaimed vehicles that had been left parked on roadsides across the city for several months. Following the directions of Police Commissioner Amalraj, the vehicles were handed over to the Greater Chennai Corporation for valuation and auction after due consultation.

Of the total vehicles seized, the Chennai Corporation has completed the valuation of 1,936 vehicles. These vehicles will be sold through an e-auction, with details published on the Corporation’s official website.

District-wise E-Auction Schedule

The auction process has already begun. 180 vehicles from the St. Thomas Mount (Parangimalai) police district were auctioned on August 28.

The remaining 1,756 vehicles among the 1,936 valued vehicles are scheduled for auction as follows:

Meanwhile, steps are being taken to value and prepare the remaining 3,607 unclaimed vehicles for e-auction.

The initiative is expected to help clear long-abandoned vehicles from city roads while enabling the authorities to dispose of them through a transparent auction process.
