TNSTC to Operate 2,040 Special Buses from August 14 to 16 for Weekend Rush

To manage the expected passenger rush during the weekend holidays, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations will operate 2,040 special buses across the State from August 14 to 16 (Friday to Sunday), according to the State Express Transport Corporation (SETC).

Special Buses from Kilambakkam

From the Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus (KCBT), Kilambakkam, special buses will operate to Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchy, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanniyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode and Tirupur.

A total of 505 special buses will operate on August 14, while 570 buses will operate on August 15.

Special Buses from Koyambedu

From CMBT, Koyambedu, special buses will be operated to Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur and Bengaluru.

Around 110 special buses each will operate from Koyambedu on August 14 and 15. In addition, 200 special buses will operate from Bengaluru, Tirupur, Erode and Coimbatore to various destinations.

Special Services from Madhavaram

From the Madhavaram Bus Terminus, special buses will operate to Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchy, Kumbakonam, Vellore, Hosur and Puducherry.

Around 80 special buses each will be operated on August 14 and 15.

To facilitate passengers returning to Chennai and Bengaluru from their hometowns after the holidays, 465 special buses will also operate from various parts of Tamil Nadu on August 16.

Advance Bus Ticket Bookings

According to SETC, 44,037 passengers have booked tickets in advance so far for the three-day period.

August 14: 21,231 passengers
August 15: 4,369 passengers
August 16: 18,437 passengers
Total: 44,037 passengers

The number of advance bookings is expected to increase further in the coming days.

Additional officials have been deployed at major bus terminals across Tamil Nadu to monitor the operation of the special services and assist passengers during the holiday rush.
