Aadi Amavasai: Paid Darshan Cancelled at Rameswaram Temple Tomorrow

Rameswaram: On the occasion of Aadi Amavasai, the Rameswaram Ramanathaswamy Temple will remain open throughout the day tomorrow. Devotees will not be allowed to have darshan at the temple from 5 p.m. today until night due to the festival procession.

The Aadi Thirukalyana festival at the Ramanathaswamy Temple is currently underway. On the sixth day of the festival yesterday, the Goddess was taken in a golden palanquin in the morning and a golden Rishabha vahana in the evening for a procession.

On the seventh day today, the Goddess will be taken in a golden horse vahana to the mandapam at Thittakudi Melatheru at 5 p.m. Hence, devotees will not be allowed to have darshan at the temple from 5 p.m. today until night.

Temple to Remain Open Without Closure

Tomorrow, Aadi Amavasai, Lord Rama will be taken to the Agni Theertham seashore in a golden Garuda vahana at 11 a.m. for the Theerthavari ritual. A silver chariot procession will also be held at night.

Normally, the temple opens at 3 a.m. and closes at 1 p.m., reopening at 3 p.m. However, considering the large number of devotees expected for Aadi Amavasai, the temple will remain open continuously from 3 a.m. until 8 p.m. tomorrow.

Free Darshan at Rameswaram Temple

Paid darshan will be completely cancelled tomorrow on the occasion of Aadi Amavasai. Devotees will also be allowed to take a holy bath in all 22 theerthams inside the temple. The Sri Rama Theerthavari will be held at the Agni Theertham seashore after 11 a.m.

Arrangements, including barricades inside the temple and a temporary surveillance tower at the Agni Theertham seashore, have been made to manage the expected crowd and ensure the safety of devotees.
