Commercial LPG Cylinder Price Hike April 2026: Chennai Rate Reaches ₹2,246

Commercial LPG cylinder prices have increased across India as global tensions in the Middle East begin to impact fuel supply chains. Oil companies announced a fresh hike of ₹203 in the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders, effective April 1, 2026.

In Chennai, the price of a commercial cylinder has gone up from ₹2,043 to ₹2,246, creating additional pressure on businesses such as hotels, restaurants, and small food vendors.

Why Are Commercial LPG Prices Increasing?

The latest price hike is largely linked to escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes has disrupted international shipping.

Iran has reportedly restricted the movement of vessels from the United States, Israel, and allied nations. This has slowed down crude oil and gas transportation, leading to supply shortages in global markets.

As a result, LPG distribution has been affected, pushing prices higher in countries like India that depend heavily on imports.

LPG Cylinder Price Increase in Major Cities

The impact of this price revision is visible across key metro cities:

Chennai: Increased by ₹203 (₹2,043 → ₹2,246)
Kolkata: Increased by ₹218
Delhi: Increased by ₹195

This is the second time commercial LPG prices have been raised since tensions between the United States and Iran escalated.

No Change in Domestic LPG Cylinder Prices

While commercial LPG prices have surged, domestic LPG cylinder rates remain unchanged. This comes as a relief for households, even as businesses continue to bear the brunt of rising fuel costs.
