The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds in Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam and Ramanathapuram districts of Tamil Nadu. Chennai is also likely to receive moderate rain with thunder and lightning today and tomorrow.

According to the weather forecast, moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at isolated places in the following districts:

- Tiruvallur, Chennai and Chengalpattu

- Villupuram and Cuddalore

- Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai and Nagapattinam

- Pudukkottai and the Nilgiris

- Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni and Dindigul

- Tenkasi and Virudhunagar

- Tiruvannamalai and Kallakurichi

- Perambalur and Ariyalur

Similar weather conditions are possible in Puducherry and Karaikal. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur at a few places across Tamil Nadu.

Heavy rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong winds is likely at isolated places in the hilly areas of Tenkasi and Tirunelveli, as well as in Kanniyakumari, Madurai, Dindigul, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Pudukkottai and Nagapattinam districts.

Moderate rain with thunder, lightning and strong winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph is also likely at many places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
