With elections approaching, many people are keen to confirm whether their names are listed in the voter roll. The process is now much easier, thanks to online services and mobile apps provided by the Election Commission of India.
Here’s a simple guide to help you check your name quickly.
Online Method: Quick and Convenient
Citizens can visit the official electoral search portal and verify their details in just a few steps.
Where to check
Head to the official portal: https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in
How to search
You can use either of these options:
Search by personal details: Enter your name, parent’s/spouse’s name, age or date of birth, and select your state (e.g., Tamil Nadu).
Search by EPIC number: If you have your Voter ID, simply enter the EPIC number and choose your state.
What you’ll see
If your name is on the list, the result will display your polling booth details, part number, and serial number.
Mobile App Option
Voters can also check their details using the official Voter Helpline App.
- Download the app from the Play Store
- Tap on “Search Your Name in Electoral Roll”
- Enter your details or EPIC number
Offline Method Still Available
For those who prefer in-person assistance, you can visit:
- VAO office
- Municipality office
Your local polling booth (especially during election time)

What If Your Name Is Missing?
If your name doesn’t appear in the voter list, don’t worry you can still apply online through the National Voters` Services Portal.

- Use Form 8 for corrections or updates

Residents of Tamil Nadu can also verify their details through the state election portal managed by the Chief Electoral Officer for quicker access to local services.
