Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Low-Pressure Circulation Turns Towards Coast, Widespread Rain Expected

A weather circulation that moved towards the South Andhra Pradesh coastal region has reportedly started shifting back towards the northern Tamil Nadu coast, raising the possibility of widespread rainfall across Tamil Nadu, according to private weather forecaster Hemachandran, popularly known as Delta Weatherman.

In his latest social media update on October 19, 2026, Hemachandran said the changing wind pattern could bring thunderstorms to several areas, followed by more widespread rainfall across coastal and interior districts.

Rain Expected Across Tamil Nadu from October 19

According to the forecast shared by Delta Weatherman, northerly and northeasterly winds may gradually change to easterly winds over the next 24 to 36 hours.

Scattered thunderstorms could begin in parts of Tamil Nadu on Monday afternoon and spread to coastal and interior districts by evening and night.

The changing atmospheric conditions may support the development of rain-bearing clouds across several parts of the state.

Widespread Rain Expected from October 20 to 23

The weather forecaster identified the period from the night of October 20 through October 23 as an important phase for the next round of rainfall.

The following regions could experience widespread rain:

South coastal Tamil Nadu: Rainfall across coastal areas.

Cauvery Delta districts: Rain and thunderstorms in several locations.

North coastal Tamil Nadu: Increased chances of widespread rainfall.

Interior districts: Rainfall spreading beyond coastal areas.

Western districts: Possibility of rain under changing weather conditions.

According to the forecast, the first phase of widespread rainfall could continue until October 24 or 25, with rain affecting several parts of Tamil Nadu.

Changing Wind Patterns May Influence Rainfall

The circulation`s reported movement towards the northern Tamil Nadu coast and the expected change in wind direction could influence rainfall distribution over the coming days.

However, the timing, intensity and geographical spread of rainfall may change depending on the movement of the weather system.

The forecast is based on the assessment shared by Delta Weatherman and should not be treated as an official India Meteorological Department (IMD) warning.

Residents Advised to Monitor Weather Updates

Residents across Tamil Nadu are advised to follow official IMD forecasts and district-level weather alerts, particularly in areas vulnerable to waterlogging and flooding.
