Three New PM Divyasha Kendras Opened in Chennai: Free Assistive Devices for Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities

In a major initiative to support senior citizens and persons with disabilities, the Government of India has inaugurated three new Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendras (PMDKs) in Chennai. These centres will provide a wide range of assistive devices and rehabilitation aids completely free of cost to eligible beneficiaries.

Senior citizens aged 60 years and above who are living below the poverty line (BPL) can visit any of these centres with the following documents:

- Aadhaar Card
- Ration Card or Income Certificate

Eligible beneficiaries can receive the following assistive devices free of cost:

- Wheelchairs
- Knee braces
- Walking sticks
- Commode wheelchairs
- Commode stools
- Behind-the-ear hearing aids
- Silicone cushions

Free Benefits for Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan)

Persons with disabilities can visit the centres with:

- Aadhaar Card
- UDID Card
- Ration Card

They can avail themselves of various assistive devices, including:

- Motorized tricycles
- Tricycles
- Wheelchairs
- Crutches
- Prosthetic limbs
- Mobile phones
- White canes for the visually impaired
- Hearing aids
