Chennai Hosts First AI Datathon in Critical Care
Chennai hosted its first AI datathon in critical care during the 32nd annual conference of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine, in collaboration with Kauvery Group of Hospitals and IIT-Madras.
The two-day event brought together doctors, engineers, and data scientists to develop AI models using real ICU data. Teams worked on predicting conditions such as sepsis, shock, acute kidney injury, and respiratory failure.
Experts highlighted the importance of doctor-engineer collaboration, noting that AI is increasingly being used from ambulance care to ICU wards to predict critical events and reduce documentation workload.
Ten teams presented AI-based solutions, which will be evaluated further with strict data privacy safeguards before possible implementation.
