Tamil Nadu Government Launches ‘Singappen Special Task Force’ Under CM Vijay’s Direct Supervision

The Government of Tamil Nadu has announced the formation of the ‘Singappen Special Task Force’ to improve women’s safety and security across the State. The special force will function under the direct supervision of Chief Minister Vijay and focus on preventive policing and rapid response measures.

According to the Government Order (GO), the task force will monitor crime-prone areas, increase police visibility in public spaces and conduct regular patrol operations to prevent crimes against women. The force will mainly operate in crowded places such as bus stands, railway stations, educational institutions and IT corridors.

The Singappen Special Task Force will also ensure quick action on complaints, assist women in distress and coordinate with various government departments and NGOs to create awareness about women’s safety and protection.

In the initial phase, the special unit will function under an Inspector General (IG) along with one Superintendent of Police (SP), two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and four Inspectors. The Tamil Nadu government has stated that the force will be equipped with modern facilities and expanded across the State in the coming phases.
