Chennai - Salem Flight Schedule: Tamil Nadu Minister Urges IndiGo to Revise Timings

Tamil Nadu Transport Minister Vijay Thamizhan Parthiban has urged IndiGo to revise the proposed flight schedule between Chennai and Salem under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme.

In a letter to IndiGo Joint Director Srinivasan Jeyaseelan, the minister highlighted concerns that the proposed timings could inconvenience business travellers and entrepreneurs who need to complete their trips within a single day.

Proposed Chennai–Salem Flight Timings

The minister has requested the airline to consider the following schedule:

Chennai Departure: 8:00 AM

Salem Arrival: 9:00 AM

Salem Departure: 9:25 AM

Chennai Arrival: 10:30 AM

The proposed timings are intended to make same-day business travel more convenient for passengers travelling between the two cities.

Request to Continue Salem–Bengaluru Flights

The minister also stressed the importance of continuing flight services between Salem and Bengaluru. The route helps connect Salem`s textile and manufacturing industries with Bengaluru`s technology and business ecosystem.

He cautioned that reducing or discontinuing the service could affect regional economic growth.

The Tamil Nadu government has also expressed its willingness to provide the necessary infrastructure facilities at Salem Airport to support the development of air connectivity.

The revised schedule and continuation of the Salem–Bengaluru service will depend on the airline`s response and subsequent decisions.
