Gold Price Outlook: Experts See Long-Term Upside Despite Recent Correction

Gold prices have witnessed sharp swings this year, falling from recent highs after a strong rally. However, several global market experts believe the current decline could present a buying opportunity for long-term investors rather than a reason for concern.

Gold Corrects After Record Rally

After touching record levels earlier this year, gold prices have retreated as investors booked profits amid expectations that higher crude oil prices and geopolitical tensions could influence interest rate decisions by the US Federal Reserve.

Despite the correction, analysts say the broader long-term outlook for gold remains positive.

Christopher Wood Remains Bullish

Jefferies Global Head of Equity Strategy Christopher Wood believes gold will continue to strengthen as a preferred safe-haven asset, especially during periods of economic uncertainty and rapid technological disruption.

According to Wood, investors should consider increasing their exposure to both gold and gold-related investments as part of a diversified portfolio.

John Paulson Sees Further Potential

Hedge fund investor John Paulson, known for successfully predicting the 2008 US housing crisis, also remains optimistic about gold`s future.

He believes that as confidence in paper currencies weakens, investors are likely to shift more capital into gold. Paulson also points out that many central banks around the world continue to increase their gold reserves as part of their long-term reserve management strategy.

He adds that, in some cases, investing in gold mining companies could potentially generate higher returns than holding physical gold.

World Gold Council`s View

The World Gold Council (WGC) expects gold prices to remain relatively stable in the near term. However, it says fresh economic slowdown concerns, geopolitical tensions, or interest rate cuts could trigger another rally in gold prices.

The Council believes that if global uncertainties intensify, gold could revisit significantly higher price levels.

What Could Drive Gold Higher?

Several factors continue to support gold over the long term:

- Ongoing geopolitical tensions across global markets.

- Central banks continuing to accumulate gold reserves.

- Expectations of future interest rate cuts.

- Rising demand for safe-haven assets during periods of economic uncertainty.

- Continued consumer demand from major markets, including India.

Long-Term Outlook

While short-term price fluctuations are expected, many market experts bebelieve the structural factors supporting gold remain intact. Investors with a long-term perspective may view the recent correction as an opportunity, although investment decisions should always be based on individual financial goals and risk tolerance rather than market predictions alone.
