Anna Nagar's Bougainvillea Park Reopens After ₹2.95 Crore Renovation

 

Revenue Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan on Monday inaugurated the upgraded Bougainvillea Park in Anna Nagar, which has been redeveloped by the Greater Chennai Corporation at a cost of ₹2.95 crore.

Spread across 12,800 square metres, the park is home to more than 1,350 trees and plants representing over 30 species.

As part of the renovation, the park has been equipped with several modern amenities, including a 17,000 sq. ft. walking track, 44 decorative light fixtures, a modern outdoor fitness area, a meditation centre, and a children`s play area featuring more than 10 play equipment. Additional facilities include over 50 seating arrangements, three pergolas, toilets for men, women, and persons with disabilities, a fountain, and an automated irrigation system with 120 sprinklers.

Following the inauguration, the minister planted a sapling and inspected the newly developed facilities. He also instructed officials to ensure the park is properly maintained. According to an official release, the park is expected to attract around 500 visitors daily.

Meanwhile, Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner G.S. Sameeran inspected the ongoing canal improvement works in the Perungudi and Sholinganallur zones. The project is being carried out at an estimated cost of ₹27.58 crore.
